About us

Easy, but powerful

Yast is a software company with it´s focus on solutions that are easy to use, but still maintain powerful functionality based on ajax/javascript code. It´s easy to make things complex, but complex to make things easy. The Yast crew consists of experienced web-programmers with a university degree in cybernetics and entrepreneurship. Combine web-experience with the insight into mathematics and algorithms, add the entrepreneurial mindset, and you have Yast.

Håvard Halvorsen

Håvard is the CEO of Yast and he has been programming web sites since he started his first web-programming company in 1998 when he was 16 years old. In his last year as a student Håvard gathered some of his most trusted and skilled friends with the sole purpose of starting a company. The result was Yast and is Håvard’s third startup. Håvard is the chief front end developer and prefer javascript and php as programming languages. Apart from spending time in front of his laptop, Håvard spend most of his time outdoors. Skiing, hiking, camping, diving etc. As a matter of fact, the only time Håvard is able to sit still is in front of the computer.

Jørn Sandvik Nilsson
Jørn is our back end developer making sure that everything on the Yast servers runs smoothly. His experience is diverse and stretches from “security checks” in his youth (aka hacking) to microchip programming and sub-sea modelling of oil separators. Like the rest of the crew, Jørn appreciate snow almost as much as the Internet and he spends countless hours skiing the mountains of Norway.

Halvor Gregusson
Halvor is the entrepreneur and puts both his heart and mind into business models and venture funding. He is constantly looking for new business opportunities. Even if Halvor also has a background as a “late 90s html-programmer”, he has dedicated his professional career to entrepreneurship and innovation. In wintertime Halvor is following Jørn´s tracks up the mountain, but his passion to sailing and scuba diving keeps Halvor busy during the summer.

Jørgen Borgesen
Jørgen is capable of solving any given software-problem. His usual response to a given task is: “I need to learn it first, but that shouldn´t be a problem.” He is in charge of programming smart phones wich has lead him to do programming on windows mobile phone, iPhone and Android (Yes, the apps are under development). Jørgen is the only snowboarder in our group, but also spend his time on programming his robot from the 80s and create an automated fish feeder for his fish, Bubbles.

Øivind A. Loe
Øivind was headhunted to a startup microchip company, Energy Micro, during his studies for one particular reason. His grades are among the highest in NTNU cybernetics history and his ability to focus on every little detail is the secret to the Yast timebar functionalities. Øivind does programming for Yast on his off-time, but every Øivind hour is worth twice the time. His secret to maintain focus is listening to rap music. Øivind has settled in the capital of Norway, Oslo, and spend his time on big city life, like dancing salsa.
